The panel explores reconciliation efforts with Indigenous Peoples in Canada, Norway and Greenland

Mere om

Indigenous Peoples across the Arctic share common experiences of both marginalization and resilience. Canada is currently engaged in a journey of reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples, aiming to address historical injustices and strengthen Indigenous self-determination. In Norway a reconciliation process with the Sámi people resulted in concrete follow up recommendations in 2023. The Governments of Denmark and Kalaallit Nunaat/Greenland have launched a historic investigation, shedding light on their shared past. This panel will explore the different paths towards reconciliation and lessons learned from experiences in Kalaallit Nunaat/Greenland, Norway and Canada. It will also examine how Indigenous Peoples can guide policies and partnerships grounded in justice, truth, and mutual respect.
