From ships to conflicts: who is responsible in today’s war economy?
Mere om
War is not only fought on the battlefield. It also runs through global supply chains — container ships, ports, logistics systems and contracts. At this Folkemøde conversation, we explore how global shipping companies and billionaire owned corporations can become part of modern warfare, knowingly or unknowingly. Using Gaza as a case, we examine corporate responsibility when logistics services and military related cargo enable armed conflict with devastating humanitarian consequences. Palestinian Youth Movement has documented how global shipping and logistics networks have been used to transport military related cargo to Israel during the war on Gaza, showing how commercial supply chains can function as critical war infrastructure. Mark Taylor, expert in investigating war economies, provides legal and analytical perspectives on corporate complicity, international humanitarian law and accountability. This event will be recorded live as part of an upcoming podcast series by Oxfam Denmark.
